How To Give Your Winter Wardrobe an Edge
I took a pledge 2 years ago to shop less on clothing and since then, I’ve created a capsule wardrobe to mix and match and create new outfits for each season. My winter wardrobe is no different. I’ve invested in pieces that I would normally gravitate towards every year like chunky knits, hefty outerwear and thigh high boots.
However, I do like to try a new trend of the season that I normally wouldn’t dare try. I’m open to new things and would make room for it in my closet if I feel super confident in it.
For ideas and inspiration on how to edge up your winter look, below are five current trends that are hot right now!
Statement Coat
Having basic pieces in your winter wardrobe is the practical choice, but it can also make your style feel bland. Liven it up a bit by adding a statement coat especially one with a bold color or fun print. // Plaid Coat from Target
Stylish Ankle Boots
This has to be one of my favorite trends for winter. No matter if your style is minimal, formal, eclectic, girly or whatever, there’s a pair of stylish ankle boots you’ll want to add to your winter wardrobe. Some of my favorites are chelsea boots (see above pic), combat boots and chunky sole boots. // Dr Martens Boots from Shoes.com
Ribbed Knits
These body hugging knits pair with virtually everything and gives off a more feminine look than oversized knits. For a more toasty and cozier version, grab one that has a turtleneck. Wear your ribbed knits with a pair of denim jeans and a statement coat for an incredibly chic look. // H&M Ribbed Sweater
Wide Headbands
Hair accessories are big this winter season. Wide Headbands are definitely on every fashion girl’s must have list — simple accessories like this can spruce up your entire look. Other popular hair accessories like pearl hair clips, bobby pins and colorful scrunchies are great options too, just don’t wear them all at once. // Madewell Knotted Covered Headband
Animal Print
Animal print is everywhere these days and to some has become the new norm. If you haven’t jumped on this trend yet, add some character to your wardrobe with a pair of animal print shoes. It can spruce up just about any outfit. // Madewell Leopard Flats
