Watermelon margarita recipe

There’s nothing like sipping on cold summery drink on a hot summer day. I’ve enjoyed my share of both alcoholic and non alcoholic summer cocktails but this Watermelon Margarita recipe has been my favorite.

It’s super duper simple to make this watermelon margarita. All you really need is 4 ingredients: watermelon, tequila, lime juice and ice. That’s it! You can add a mint leaf (like I did), slice of lemon or even rim the glass with salt if you like, but these are optional steps.

Making the watermelon juice is easy. Just throw it in the blender (with other ingredients) and blend into juice. I decided not strain but if you want to remove and seeds or pulp, then blend the watermelon by itself, strain it with a strainer, then blend again with other ingredients mentioned below.

Ingredients

  • 4 1/2 cups of cut watermelon
  • 3/4 cup of tequila, preferably 100% agave silver
  • 1/2 cup of lime juice
  • handful of ice
  • mint for garnish (optional)
  • sea salt for glass rims (optional)

Serving Size: 4

Instructions

Step 1. Prepare your margarita glasses: This is an optional step if you want to rim the glass with sea salt. Run a wedge of line around the top of each glass. Then line the rim with sea salt by dipping the top of the glass at a 45 degree angle over a plate of salt and roll it around to catch the salt. Do this for all 4 glasses then set aside.

Step 2. Combine the watermelon, lime juice and a handful of ice in a blender until it turns smooth.

Step 3. Fill each glass with ice and pour the watermelon and lime juice mixture into the glasses.

Step 4. Add 2-3 tablespoons of tequila into each glass and mix with spoon.

Step 5. Garnish with mint.
