It’s the most wonderful time of the year for Christmas desserts! Everyone loves cookies which is why it’s so popular around this time of the year. I plan to do a lot of baking this holiday season so while I was looking up Christmas cookie recipes on the web, I came across so many delectable cookie ideas that it was hard to choose just a few.
It’s a tradition in our house to bake cookies and hold contests amongst family and friends. This year, things are a little different due to the pandemic, but we still plan to do a ton of baking and hold contests via Zoom. I might even mail cookies as gifts after all of this is done, LOL. Anyways, I need more Christmas cookie ideas more than ever now, so below is the same list I created of the best Christmas cookie recipes that are creative, easy to bake and look oh so good.
What Is The Most Popular Christmas Cookie in America?
According to General Mills, the most popular Christmas cookie recipes vary from state to state. Peanut butter blossoms, a peanut butter cookie with a Hershey’s Kiss in the center, is the most popular cookie in seven states. Spritz cookies are a hit in many states, including Colorado, Illinois, and Washington.
People love all kinds of variations on sugar cookies, including sugar cookie cutouts and cookies in the shape of snowmen. Lots of people love the nutty flavor of Russian tea cakes, and peanut butter cookie cups are another crowd pleaser. From chocolate-flavored cookies to cookies topped with sprinkles, people appreciate a wide variety of cookies.
With that said, some cookies that are strongly associated with the holiday season are less popular than you would think. For many, gingerbread cookies are synonymous with the holiday season, but Hawaii is the only state that named a gingerbread cookie recipe as a favorite. When you’re making cookies for the holidays, you shouldn’t be afraid to think outside the box.
