Lemon Scrub DIY Recipe You’ll Love
My first homemade beauty recipe was a lemon scrub because it’s so easy to make. It’s definitely worth the 5 minutes of prep time because after a scrub down, your skin feels amazing. I decided to make this lemon scrub to get my skin and face prep for one last summer wedding I’ll be attending this weekend. It combines exfoliation of raw sugar, acne-fighting ingredients of lemon juice and honey with moisturizing benefits of olive oil.
This diy lemon scrub recipe can be used on the face and body. It can tackle rough spots like the elbows, knees, feet and hands.
Lemon Scrub Ingredients
Here’s what you’ll need:
- 1/2 lemon
- 1/2 cup of granulated sugar
- 1 tbsp of organic honey
- 1 tbsp of olive oil
- 1 medium cannister jar with lid
Benefits of Ingredients
Lemon– It contains Vitamin C which helps lighten your skin and citric acid helps exfoliate it. The combination of the two aids in lightening age and sun spots, reduces pimples, and brightens the complexion.
Sugar– It is the most natural way to soften, exfoliate and to freshen up the skin. It has a fine texture that exfoliates the skin to remove dead skin cells without leaving a harmful residue that can clog pores.

Honey– A natural anti-bacterial great for treating and preventing acne. It’s full of antioxidants which helps slowdown the aging process. Since it’s moisturizing it can give your skin a complexion boost and it’s clarifying which helps unclog and reduce pores.
Olive Oil– A natural moisturizing oil that heals and soothes the skin. It also contains a high amount of Vitamin E.
Step by Step Instructions
Step 1. Squeeze out the lemon juice (by hand or with a strainer) into a bowl.
Step 2. Add olive oil and mix together.
Step 3. Next add the honey and stir or whisk quickly until you get a some what thick consistency.

Step 4. Add the sugar and mix. If you feel there’s not enough sugar to get an effective exfoliation from it, then you can add more.
Step 5. Place in a jar with a fitted lid and use once or twice for soft glowing skin.
This diy lemon sugar scrub batch should last for at least two weeks then you’ll need to make a new one.
Lemon Scrub: Body Application
If you plan to use this as a body scrub, you can scrub it on dry or in the shower. Rub in a circular motion for at least three minutes and focus on the rough areas like the elbows and knees. The exfoliation will leave your skin so soft and radiant, scrubbing away dead skin cells which will allow your “new” skin to breathe and shine. Be sure to rinse with warm water afterwards.
Lemon Scrub: Face Application
I love to use this on the face at least once a week. The scrub helps with the discoloration I have on my cheeks and prevents unwanted blemishes. It’s truly beneficial for people who have acne-prone skin. Since its the face, do gentle circular motions. Leave on for 10 minutes, and rinse with cold water. After a few uses, you’ll noticed tighten pores, a more even skin tone, less acne scarring and breakouts.

Hi, i just made this. This is amaziinnggg!! I tried it on my hands just for a test, and my hands were sooooooooo soft after washing it off😻 i just want to know, can I put the mixture in the fridge after I’ve used it?💗 thank you x
How do you store this scrub?
How long will it ‘keep’?
Would like to make it ahead of time for shower gifts.
Thanks
Hi Sandra,
It can last 2-3 weeks in an air-tight container. During the warmer months leave it in the fridge and use a spoon instead of your hands to scoop it out to avoid contamination.
I hope this helps!
