DIY Beauty: Pamper Your Feet with This Foot Soak Recipe!
You may have heard how awesome Epsom salt is for bath time. I use it all the time when I want to relax and soothe my sore muscles – which also makes it perfect to add to a foot soak for my overtired, overworked feet! You can usually find Epsom salt in big bags at the pharmacy, so use some the next time you want to bathe after a tough workout. For a stronger effect, I like to throw in fresh mint, but mint tea bags work just as well.
Homemade Foot Soak
Ingredients
- 1 bunch fresh mint ( or 6 mint tea bags)
- About 4 quarts water
- 1 cup Epsom Salt
- 30 drops of peppermint oil
- 30 drops of lavendar oil
- 1/2 to 1 cup of aloe juice (optional)
Makes one use
Instructions
Step 1. Squeeze mint in your hands until the leaves are bruised, add them (or you 6 mint tea bags) to your largest pot full of water and bring to a boil on the stove. The longer you boil, the more potent the “tea” will become, so let it go as long as you’d like.
Step 2. Turn off the heat, add Epsom salt, and stir until dissolved.

Step 3. Let this cool enough for you to handle it comfortably before adding essential oils, or they will evaporate. But don’t wait too long, or it won’t feel as nice on your feet.
Optionally, and if you’re especially feeling impatient, add 1/2 to 1 cup of aloe juice for a soothing effect that also cools the temperature enough to get your feet in it.
Step 4. Pour into a basin and sink your feet in. Now relax!
A foot soak is great way to relax and soothe your aching feet. If you want to step it up a notch and give your feet the ultimate spa treatment from home, then you should check out this product I’ve been using recently called the Footmate system (Great gift idea!). Foot care is a daily challenge for a lot of people, but this system makes optimal foot health easy. It’s a complete foot care system for cleaning, soothing, stimulating, and massaging your feet every time you shower.
I love it a lot because I find it to be the most relaxing and soothing way to clean your feet. The gentle inner brushes massage my tender soles, while the stiffer outer bristles smooth rough skin and stimulate circulation. The bristles, which are perfectly shaped to cradle my foot, create a stimulating massage that makes my feet feel great. It also comes with a Tea Tree Oil gel cleanser that gives a cooling sensation. It leaves my feet feeling so good after a long workout or if I’m standing for a long period of time. It’s a little treat for my feet every time I shower.
With the holidays approaching, the Footmate system makes the perfect gift for your friends or loved ones especially if they struggle with diabetes, arthritis, and back pain. It’s also the perfect solution for athletes and pregnant women who are constantly of their feet. You can find the Footmate System on Amazon.
