How To Speed Clean A Messy Bedroom

This post is all about how to clean a messy bedroom fast.

Waking up to a dirty messy bedroom is never a great start to my day. I know my life might look perfect on the ‘gram, with the perfectly posed bedroom shots and flatlays; but, what you’re seeing right here is reality. Real life equals everyday messes. Avoiding the mess however, is the real issue.

How To Clean A Messy Bedroom Fast

Alright, so without further ado, here’s my step-by-step system on how to clean a messy bedroom fast.

1. Make The Bed

Before I do anything, I make my bed. People might think it’s a waste of time but I say other wise because a) you may need a large surface area for folding clothes after decluttering, b) you may have clutter on it that needs to be moved to another area in your room and c) it just makes the bedroom look more clean.

2. Clear The Clutter

As you can see I have scattered clothes all over my room. They’re on the floor, chair and bed. I like to remove clothes from my floor first because trash could be hiding underneath. I then put all the dirty laundry in the laundry hamper and then fold and hang whatever is left over.

Next, I pick up the trash on the floor (snack wrappers, crumpled paper, clothing tags, etc) and put in the wastebasket. Then I empty the wastebasket.

3. Remove Surface Clutter

Now I remove clutter on top of my desk, vanity, drawer and bedside tables. Any misplaced items I put back to their respectful homes. I often eat at my work desk so there’s always food crumbs on it and on the floor. I use my hands to wipe the crumbs down onto the floor since I’m going to vacuum it anyway. 

4. Vacuum. Vacuum. Vacuum!

Oh yes. The most exciting part- vacuuming! The floors are pretty much the last step so I always get excited when I get to this point. 5. Final touches

At this point, my room is clean, tidy and my carpet is dirt-free thanks to my new Hoover vacuum. What I usually do now is take one last look around my room and wipe down surfaces with disinfectant wipes, if necessary.
