How I Enhanced My Sleep With This Works + Nighttime Routine

A new Daylight Saving Time has begun and there are a lot of things I get excited about especially around this time of the year. For one, spring is just a few weeks away. It’s my favorite season and I’m so looking forward to more sunnier days, floral dresses and sprucing up my home with more vibrant colors. Heck, I already started decluttering to prepare for the BIG clean.
What I’m not excited about is how the time change affects my sleep. Year after year it has always had a negative effect on my sleep. Some people can adapt better than others. I’m just not one of those people. Who knew, making a small one hour change would have such a big impact. Losing that one hour of sleep leaves me feeling off. Oh and the following Mondays are always just the worse!
But things went differently this year. Daylight Saving Time came and I was able to adjust much quicker than the past. What changed? Well first, I slowly adjusted to the time change by going to bed and waking up 20 minutes earlier a few days prior to Sunday. However, this was just the start to getting a better sleep.
Sleep & Self Care
With the new time change, I felt it was the perfect opportunity to find new ways to enhance my sleep so I did just that by putting more focus on self care. My sleep needed improvement and it’s true when they say self care starts with a good night’s sleep. I wanted to feel more prepared to take on the day and overall just be the best version of myself with some self love along the way.
So I changed up my nighttime routine. The main star of my new routine is a product called Deep Sleep Pillow Spray from This Works.
This Works Deep Sleep Pillow Spray is formulated with a blend of 100% natural, therapeutic essentials oils proven to calm the mind. I spray it on my pillow every night and the fragrance just calms and relaxes me. It’s been an essential part of my nighttime routine and overall self care.
My Updated Nighttime Routine
So, here’s what I do every night now.
First, I do some journaling for about 5-10 minutes. I like to reflect on four to five journal prompts at the end of each day. I jot down good things, like a highlight of my day, something I learned or someone who helped me. Writing down positive thoughts helps me redirect my mind and stress less.
Next, I put on comfy pajamas and turn on the tea kettle because I like to drink a cup of tea before heading to bed. As I wait for the water to boil, I do my skincare routine.
I always try and find ways to sneak in some self care at night and This Works is by far the easiest way to do so. Like I mentioned earlier, I spritz it a few times on my pillow, lay back and let the immediate burst of fragrance take over my room while sipping on my tea. Seriously, it feels like I’m inside a spa.

The last thing I do right before I go to sleep, is put on my eye mask to black everything out. I’m still amazed how easily I’m able to drift off.
I also want to point out that if you have trouble staying asleep, This Works has another product to help with that called Sleep Plus+ Pillow Spray. The fragrance is captured in tiny spheres so when you toss and turn, those spheres break on the pillow, continuously releasing a pleasant aroma throughout the night.
So the Deep Sleep Pillow Spray helps you fall asleep while the Sleep Plus+ Pillow Spray helps you stay asleep. Pretty awesome, right?
